Maison Dr Frétigny (The Clocktower)

Unique Accommodation

Rising from the moat on impressive stone foundations, the Clocktower stands proudly at the corner of the Cour d’Honneur. Once one of two original guard towers, this remarkable structure now offers truly unforgettable accommodation with views across the front of the château.

This three-storey, stand-alone residence with an additional mezzanine retains many original features, including a baronial fireplace and a beautifully panelled wooden staircase. On the second floor, a striking double spa bath is perfectly positioned to enjoy elevated views across the grounds.

Ideal for families or groups of friends, the Clocktower accommodates up to seven guests, with two separate double bedrooms and a mezzanine above the second-floor bedroom fitted with three single beds.

Access is directly from the Cour d’Honneur (please note this includes steps).

Named in honour of Dr Frétigny, a psychiatrist who opened a nursery for encephalopathic children at the château in 1965, later expanding the work to care for young adults as well.  The building was used as his clinic and home  a meaningful chapter in the château’s social history.
